My english name is Andy and I am an albino Maasai from Kenya. I recently moved to New Zealand on a voyage of self discovery to find out more about who I really was and what made me tick. As I grew older in Africa I became increasingly aware that my piece in the Maasai jigsaw never quiet fitted the puzzle. Apart from my obvious pasty white skin our tribe prides itself for its skills in stadunga (village bouncing), which is something I have always struggled at for as long as I can remember. The tribal women are terribly shallow and “only the highest jumpers get the humpers”, so as you can imagine my chances with the Maasai women were as likely as getting out of the foreskin ritual in tacked (pretty much impossible). Ok, so I was no good at statunga, but boy could I paint sticks! Almost every mud hut in my village had one of my stick paintings hanging on their wall. It was this creative ability of mine that lead Sedora Desu (our tribe’s spiritual leader) to recommend me getting into the advertising industry. He said a man by the name of David Bell could provide me with all the wisdom and teachings I would need on this journey, so he helped me pack my bags and I headed off to Axis Adschool in Auckland. It is my goal to one day return to my village with a huge herd of healthy cattle bearing golden hooves so that I can gloat and blow faces at the village women. If that is to happen I am going to need to learn a lot. Your comments, suggestions and support of my work would be an extremely important and gratefully appreciated part of that process.
